Civil Liability & Courts Act 2004

Many people involved in claims believe that over time this act has an even greater chance of revolutionising the overall scene. While no one has objection to reasonable compensation being paid to genuine claimants by those who are liable for their injuries, far too often many of these vital components were ignored. Added to this was the requirement to pay costs in far too many straightforward cases. PIAB is really more about that problem, The Courts Act begins to get to the heart of the matter.

We wrote a reasonably light hearted article at the time this act came out and that is reproduced here.

We also produced a document setting out the key changes that are most relevant to claims handlers. The text of this can be found here.

We have a copy of the Act that you can download here in PDF Format
