The Working at Height Regulations 2006 (S.I. 318 of 2006)
These came into operation during July 2006. The Regulations make planning, risk assessment and protective measures key issues when organizing work at height. The well-established definition of working at height within Construction Regulations of "2 metres above the ground or higher" is now gone. The Regulations define “work at height” and also include work where there is a risk of falling from ground level into shafts, cellars, trenches, holes etc.
The regulations contain provisions for the use of ladders and fall protection systems.
